Welcome to my new Sheffield Cake Website. My name is Elaine Charles and I design and make cakes for customers in South Yorkshire and around the UK. I began making cakes for that special occasion almost 30 years ago for family and friends and decided to take it up professionally soon after. The contemporary wedding cake has grown out of many traditions. One of the first traditions began in Ancient Rome.

Indeed, in 1971 we appointed our first lady president Mrs Myra Gray who was thrilled to receive such an honour. For many years membership was only open to people born in Scotland or with Scottish parents. As the number of native-born Scots in Sheffield has diminished over the years, the Society has amended its criteria for membership and now welcomes anyone who has an affinity with Scotland and an interest in its history and traditions.
